Mayor Randy Simms
 
 
Mayor Simms began his tenure on Council in 1989, serving as Deputy Mayor for the past 5 years. He assumed the position of Mayor in October 2007 following the election of former Mayor Steve Kent to the Provincial House of Assembly. Randy and his wife, Florence, have lived in Mount Pearl for 32 years. Mayor Simms has long been involved in his community. He was one of the founding members of the Mount Pearl Chamber of Commerce and served two terms as President. When Mount Pearl was declared a city in 1988, he was presented with a City Builders Award for his contribution to community life. Mayor Simms is a former President of the Provincial Federation of Municipalities and is the only elected municipal council member in the Province to earn a Certificate in Municipal Administration from Memorial University.
