Public Skating Guidelines

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, guidelines have been put in place at the Glacier Arena for all public skates for the safety of staff and patrons.  They are as follows:

  • Doors to the facility will be opened 10 minutes prior to activity.
  • Face masks MUST be worn by all patrons in the facility, the face mask can be removed once you are at the ice surface, and to be put back on immediately when exiting the ice surface.
  • For contract tracing purposes, all participants will sign-in and leave contact information upon entry to the facility. This information will be stored safely and will be destroyed after 14 days as per public health regulations.
  • There is a flow of traffic in the facility, if you have any questions about the flow of traffic, please ask any member of the Glacier staff and they will be pleased to assist you. All signage is either located on the floor or the walls to guide you.
  • Every participant must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet, other ice rated helmets will not be permitted.
  • No food or beverages (including coffee/tea/snacks) are allowed in the facility – only water bottles for participants will be permitted.
  • Sticks, pucks, pylons or chairs are not permitted on the ice at any time during any public skate. Skating aids are permitted.
  • If any skating sessions are to be cancelled, a cancellation note will be posted in the facility as well as on the City of Mount Pearl’s website, and the Skating schedule phone line will be updated

Parent & Tot Skate

  • This skate is for children 8 years and younger and their parents/guardians
  • The cost of $4.50 for 1 adult and 2 children, $3.50 for each additional child, $4.50 for each additional adult
  • Skate will take place in Glacier Rink 1, Monday to Friday from 1:30-2:30pm
  • Every participant must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet, other ice rated helmets will not be permitted
  • Above parameters will be in effect

Family Skate

  • The cost for this skate is $4.50 per adult, 3.50 for children and seniors (50+)
  • Skate will take place Saturdays (starting January 16, 2021) from 1:15-2:30pm in Glacier Rink 1
  • Capacity for this skate is 30 participants
  • Parents/Guardians must accompany children
  • The skate will be a first-come, first-served basis, once the skate is at capacity, a pylon will be placed in front of Glacier Rink 1
  • Every participant must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet, other ice rated helmets will not be permitted

Senior Noon Skate

  • The cost for this skate is $3.50 for seniors (50+), $4.50 per adult
  • This is a 17+ skate
  • Skate will take place in Glacier Rink 1, Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 1:15pm
  • Every participant must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet, other ice rated helmets will not be permitted
