Summit Centre Updates

We are excited to welcome you back!

The Summit Centre Fitness Centre and Aquatics Centre is now open daily.

We implemented new measures to ensure we are doing our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19. While things may look a little different, we are taking steps to make your workout or swimming experience as safe and clean as possible.

We’ve recently made improvements to our service delivery and programming, while continuing to ensure your health and safety. This includes:

  • Increased access to fitness members and pool patrons
  • Swimming lessons for children and adults
  • Dryland and Aquatics Fitness classes (registration required)
  • Improved our online booking system (for members scheduling a workout and patrons booking a lane swim)

All public health protocols and policies, including the wearing of masks in all indoor public spaces, are still in effect.

Scheduling a Workout

  • Fitness members can pre-book a workout online, based on the schedule below.
  • To book a timeslot, you must use your Bookking online account.
    • To create an account, click here.
    • If you do not have online access, or are unsure if you already have an account, please call Customer Service at 748-1002, select 1 for the Summit Centre and then select extension 5.
  • You are permitted to book two (2) hours of activities per day.
  • Workouts can be booked in one-hour time slots.
  • Only one area (weight room, cardio room and walking track) can be booked at a time.
  • Drop-in access to the facility will be accepted based on availability.
  • The following time slots will be available for booking:

Cancellations

  • Making a booking is a commitment to a workout. We ask that if you are booking these appointments that you follow through and show up, or cancel with 24 hours’ notice by calling Customer Service @748-1002, dial 1 for Summit and then ext 5 or by email to customerservice@mountpearl.ca.
  • Due to limited space anyone who does not show for their appointment on more than two occurrences may be prevented from future bookings.

Working Out

  • Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before booking. Start and end times will be strictly adhered to.
  • You are required to arrive at the facility dressed for your fitness activity.
  • Masks are mandatory in all hallways, change rooms and program rooms. Please follow all posted signage.
  • Change rooms have been temporarily relocated to the second floor and temporary lockers have been installed to protect personal belongings.
  • Fitness change room showers and saunas will not be available.
  • Water fountain will NOT be accessible, you are encouraged to bring your own water bottle with you.
  • Small fitness equipment for gym such as skipping ropes, yoga mats, foam rollers will not be available for use. If you wish to bring you own, you are permitted to do so.
  • Facility access is for users only.

 

AQUATICS CENTRE

At this time, we will not be offering public swims, aqua fitness classes, birthday parties, private rentals or the use of the saunas, slide, or diving board.

Scheduling a Swim

  • To book a timeslot, you must use your Bookking online account.
    • If you have registered for any fitness/swim programs, booked a facility, or had a membership, you already have an account.
    • To create an account, click here.
    • If you do not have online access, or are unsure if you have an account, please call Customer Service at 748-1002, select 1 for the Summit Centre and then select extension 5.
  • The Summit pool will be offering individual lane swimming and limited “Bubble Swims.”
    • Lane Swims: To book a lane swim, click here. If you do not have online access, please call 748-1007 to book. May be booked with three people per lane. Lanes will be regulated based on slow, medium and fast to the best of our ability. Users should expect that not all swimmers in the same lane will be at the same skill level. The leisure pool will be available during Lane Swims for rehabilitation purposes or adaptive needs – these bookings will be taken over the phone only at 748-1007.
    • Bubble Swims: To book a “Bubble Swim”, please call 748-1007 (online bookings are unavailable). Children 12 and under must always be accompanied in the water by a 19-year-old adult who must remain at arm’s distance in the water. Adults are responsible to ensure physical distancing of those outside their bubble. Splash pad will be available for bubble swims. Maximum 3 children to 1 adult. Maximum of 8 people per bubble.
  • Patrons are permitted to book two (2) hours of activities per day.
  • Drop ins will be accepted based on availability of space at the time of the drop in.

Before/During Your Swim

  • Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before booking. Start and end times will be strictly adhered to.
  • Please arrive at the facility dressed for the pool with swimwear under clothes upon arrival.
  • Masks are mandatory in all hallways, change rooms and program rooms. Please follow all posted signage.
  • Two change rooms on the fitness side of the facility have been allocated for use by Aquatics. This change has allowed us to increase our pool capacity and to offer more programs. You will be assigned a change room upon your arrival.
  • Limited showers will be available in the Aquatic change rooms, please note signage. In addition, shower curtains are removed so please keep your swimwear on when showering.
  • Equipment in the pool such as flutter boards, fins, toys and lifejackets will NOT be available for use. Patrons who wish to bring their own will be permitted to do so. Please do not bring any floats or inflatables to the pool, they will be denied.
  • Accessible equipment is available upon request.
  • Please keep a physical distance of at least 6 feet (2 metres) from lifeguard staff when possible. Our lifeguards are still rescue ready and willing to help you as always. If physical distancing cannot be maintained, our lifeguards are trained to ensure everyone’s safety.
  • Water fountains will NOT be accessible, you are encouraged to bring your own water bottle.

Keeping You Safe

  • We have increased our cleaning efforts and are following a regular cleaning and disinfecting schedule. Dedicated cleaning time is set aside after every hour of member activity to “reset” the facility and prepare for the next time block.
  • Increased hand sanitizing stations will be provided throughout the facility.
  • All guests are required to follow public health guidelines related to COVID-19.
  • If you do not feel well, please stay home.
