Are you looking for financial support to increase recreation opportunities for you or a family member? Refer to the programs below:

P.E.A.R.L Program
Offered by: City of Mount Pearl

(Participation for Everyone in Active Recreation and Leisure)

The City of Mount believes that anyone should be able to participate in city-run recreation programs regardless of financial resources. If your financial circumstances make it difficult for you to pay the full fee for programs, you may qualify for a subsidy. Please note, this program is available for people of all ages.

Program Guidelines

  1. Is designed for residents of Mount Pearl.
  2. A reference must be provided from Community Leader (Example: Social Worker, Teacher, Clergy, Coach). A reference cannot be a family member or relative.
  3. One activity per person per season.

KidSport Funding
Offered by: KidSport Newfoundland & Labrador

KidSport Newfoundland & Labrador believes all kids have the right to play organized sports and provides funding for registration fees and equipment costs for kids aged 18 and under so they can play a season of sport. KidSport provides children with:

  • The opportunity to enjoy a season of children’s sport programming;
  • Healthy habits that will last their whole lives;
  • Valuable life lessons and skills including leadership, practice, hard work, dedication, and self confidence;
  • Access to mentorship and guidance from coaches.

Jumpstart Funding
Offered by: Canadian Tire

Founded in 2005, Jumpstart helps kids overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and recreation in an effort to provide inclusive play for kids of all abilities (ages 4 to 18).

Sobeys Reward Program
Offered by: Mount Pearl Sport Alliance

Earn FREE MONEY with the Sobeys Reward Program! Earn an extra 4% on grocery spending toward your child’s activities. How? Purchase Sobeys gift cards at the Mount Pearl Sport Alliance! We will put 4% of what you purchase in your child’s sport account. Then, upon request, we will send the money available in your child’s account to pay for sport fees. These certificates cost dollar for dollar. When you pick up $100 worth of certificates, you will pay $100.

For example, if you spend $100 a week on groceries, you will earn $208 per year for your child’s sport(s). Multiply this by family, friends, co-workers, etc. and it can easily accumulate! These gift cards can be used at any Sobeys, Foodland, Needs, Lawton’s, TRA, or Price Chopper, across Newfoundland & Labrador, and they are available in denominations of $25, $50, $100 and $500.
