Submitting an Access to Information Request
The Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 2015 gives individuals the right to request access to records in custody or under the control of public bodies, including the City of Mount Pearl.
The Access to Information Request Form is available here: ATIPP Request
The City is also governed by the City of Mount Pearl Act, which supports openness and transparency by requiring certain records to be publicly available. Records that may be available without a formal request include:
- Adopted Council meeting minutes
- Municipal budgets and financial statements
- Auditor’s reports
- Municipal plans and policies
- Regulations (by-laws)
- Public tenders
- Assessment roll information (as permitted by law)
- Permits, licenses, and approvals (where not restricted)
- Contracts and agreements (subject to confidentiality)
- Records adopted or tabled at public Council meetings

- You can expect a response within 20 business days, unless an extension is needed.
- If needed, we may reach out to better understand or narrow your request.
- Your personal information will be handled confidentially in accordance with the legislation.
- If records contain information that cannot be released, it will be removed (redacted), and the reason will be explained.
