Water Conservation Reminder
With this summer’s warm and dry weather, residents are reminded to limit their use of water outdoors to protect the water supply. The regional water supply servicing the municipalities of Mount Pearl, St. John’s, Paradise, Conception Bay South, and Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s is experiencing a higher than usual demand.
The public are reminded of the Water Conservation Order to promote wise water use in the region. Residents are asked to follow the Order so water demand can be addressed before it reaches a critical point and further actions are needed.
Under the Order, lawn watering is only permitted at the following times:
- EVEN street numbers, between 6 and 8 a.m., and 8 and 10 p.m., Wednesdays and Saturdays
- ODD street numbers, between 6 and 8 a.m., and 8 and 10 p.m., Wednesdays and Sundays
- Hand watering of lawns and gardens is permitted at any time
- Residents with a new lawn may water it between 6 and 8 a.m., and 8 and 10 p.m. every day for a period of 60 days following installation
Residents can wash cars or house windows provided it is done with a hose with a shut-off nozzle.
All municipalities will be actively enforcing the Water Conservation Order and the cooperation of all residents is appreciated.
