Next Performance – Friday, August 30th
Caleb Kinden is performing on August 30, from 12:00-12:30
My name is Caleb Kinden and I am 14 years old. I began performance art at the age of 11 and hope to continue a profession in musical theatre following high school. As a neurodivergent teen I love breaking the barriers/stigma surrounding mental health while showing the world all the positive attributes that so many youth like me possess.
I currently am involved in many music extracurriculars including private voice lessons, guitar lessons, choir, musical theatre and this fall I will be taking additional courses in musical theatre theory and advance character preparation through Beyond the Overpass Theatre Company. I also play both bass & acoustic (along with vocals) in the band I am in with my friends and play saxophone in my school concert band/jazz band.
During the 2024 Kiwanis I was so honoured to receive an award in stage presence earning a plaque on the wall at the Gander Arts and Culture centre, along with top awards in senior voice in pop and senior voice in musical theatre. The band I play in also came in second place at the Gander Youth Centres Battle of the Bands this spring! One of my most exciting accomplishments so far was earlier this year when I was asked to play the role of Ainsley in the Broadway play Appropriate by the Avion Players during the 2024 Provincial Drama Festival where I received a nomination for best actor under 25 in the festival.
In my spare time I enjoy playing guitar, spending time at our cabin and hanging out with friends. I am excited for summer 2024 and all the opportunities I have to perform and am so humbled to have been chosen to play with the Mount Pearl Summer Concert Series this year!
Vuelo Directo is performing August 30, from 12:30-1:30
Vuelo Directo is a pop-rock band based in St John’s that covers Spanish language hits from the last few decades. We play covers in a range of styles, such as folk, pop-rock, flamenco fusion, and rumba, by a variety of artists and bands from Spain and Latin America, such as Joaquín Sabina, Manu Chao, Antonio Vega, Los Secretos, Celtas Cortos, Duncan Dhu, Los Enanitos Verdes, and Los Rodríguez. We play mostly crowd-pleasing upbeat songs, and our shows are appropriate for “all ages”.
