Reopenings & Resuming Services

The city has successfully reached a new collective agreement with its unionized workforce, represented by CUPE 2099.

In the coming days, as details on the reopening of city facilities and the resumption of services are finalized, they will be posted on this webpage and to the city’s official social media profiles on Facebook and Twitter.

City Hall will continue with its regular hours of operation from 8am to 4pm, which have remained uninterrupted.

Garbage and Recycling Collection

Starting Thursday, September 22nd, the regular garbage and recycling collection schedule will resume. To view your collection schedule please click here.

The Summit and The Glacier

  • The Summit Centre (fitness spaces and pool) will reopen on Sunday, September 25. To learn more, click here.
  • Registration for fall fitness classes opens on Tuesday, September 27th at 5pm for Mount Pearl residents. Open registration will begin on Thursday, September 29th at 5pm. Click here for details.
  • Registration for fall seniors fitness programs begins Tuesday, September 27th at 1pm for Mount Pearl residents! Open registration will begin on Thursday, September 29th at 1pm. Click here for details. 
  • Swimming lessons registration dates will be posted soon.

Animal Control Services

The standard services provided to resident by the city’s animal control team will return to their full operations as of Thursday, September 22.

Planning and Engineering Department

All services and programs operating as usual at full capacity with a special focus on ensuring improved turnaround time for providing permit review and issue, inspections of capital works and private development, and compliance letters for property transactions.
