Textile Diversion Program

The City of Mount Pearl and Diabetes Canada have partnered together to offer a textile diversion program. With numerous social, economic and environmental benefits to textile recovery, this is an excellent opportunity to help divert items from the landfill.

Did you know that in Canada, it is estimated that 85% of all textiles go to a landfill, accounting for up to 11% of all garbage?

Diabetes Canada helps to improve the lives of 11.9 million Canadians that suffer from diabetes or prediabetes – this includes 192,000 people in Newfoundland and Labrador. Diabetes Canada has been operating for over 30 years and their collections contribute over $10 million per year to support their mission to end diabetes.

Let us help you declutter your home for free!

Textile donation bins are located throughout Mount Pearl. Diabetes Canada’s unique textile recycling program accepts all adult and children’s clothing and footwear, including undergarments, towels, pillows, and curtains. This includes items that are worn, torn or stained. Even single socks and shoes are welcome!
