Online Lawn Marker Request

Residents can now request lawn markers online!

Lawn markers are used to clearly identify the edges of your lawn, making it less likely that snow plows will gouge out grass or cause damage during winter operations. Submitting your request online is quick and easy, click here to make a request.

Snow Clearing Regulations

Residents are advised of the following snow clearing regulations:

  • No vehicle is permitted to park on any street within the city from December 1 to March 31 each year, both days inclusive, between the hours of 1:00am and 8:00am.
  • No vehicle is permitted to park on any street within the city during a storm (snow or ice) and for 12 hours thereafter.
  • Any unattended vehicle parked on any street contrary to these regulations may be removed and impounded at the owner’s expense.
  • No person shall shovel, plow, blow or cause to be shoveled, plowed or blown, any residue snow from a driveway or parking lot onto any street, carriage way or sidewalk within the city.

Snow Removal

Sidewalks

Mount Pearl is divided into various snow clearing and salting routes to ensure residents receive high quality services. Priority clearing for sidewalks is as follows:

  1. School zones.
  2. Mains roads: Commonwealth Avenue, Ruth Avenue, Park Avenue, Smallwood Drive, Topsail Road, Old Placentia road, Farrell Drive, and Mount Carson Avenue.
  3. Residential areas: When weather conditions allow, the city will focus efforts on clearing residential sidewalks. However, if there is a high volume of snow, school zones and main roads are the priorities.

Walking Trails

Throughout the winter months, the city grooms areas of its trail system for walking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. For more details, please click here.

Mailboxes

If there’s snow around your mailbox that’s preventing you from getting your mail, you’ll need to create a service ticket with Canada Post. To do this, please visit Canada Post’s website here or call 1-866-607-6301.

Winter Damage Report

Has your property been damaged as a result of city snow clearing equipment? If so, please fill out this online form to request a repair. Please note that the city does not repair damages due to snow load, nor does the city repair damages to structures located in the city’s right-of-way area on residential front/side yards.

Winter Safety 

While winter is a great season for outdoor activities, snow can bring both fun and danger for children. Snow plows and snow clearing equipment are a potentially dangerous draw for younger children. The city’s winter safety awareness program is designed to keep children safe around snow clearing equipment and during winter play.  Safey Snowplow is the city’s winter safety mascot, and every year he teaches children in grades K-6 important safety messages.
